The American Idol karaoke party theme is more appropriate for adults, as kids may have a difficult time getting "voted off" the show. For this type of party, select three party guests to serve as judges. After each guest performs, the judges decide whether they should move on to the next round or not. As each round goes by, the participant list should continuously get smaller. Once it has been narrowed down to three contestants, allow each contestant one final performance. The remaining party guests should vote for their favorite, and prizes should be awarded based on first, second and third place.
Costume Karaoke

For a costume karaoke party, guests should each come dressed as the musical artist they wish to imitate. For example, a guest who wishes to sing a Michael Jackson song should come dressed as the artist himself. Because this will require a bit of planning on the guests' part, be sure to notify them well in advance of the party. At the end of the party, award prizes for best musical performance, most creative costume and best overall imitation.
