Holiday Party Etiquette & Hostess Gifts
A holiday party is an opportunity for friends, relatives and coworkers to gather and celebrate the joyous seasons. To maintain a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere, party guests should follow proper etiquette. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Food Etiquette
-
Whether it's a sit-down dinner or casual appetizer buffet, don't overcrowd your plate. Instead, simply refill your plate when necessary. When it comes to dips and sauces, spoon a small amount onto your plate rather than dipping into the large bowl. If you must use the large bowl, never double-dip your food into the sauce.
Socializing Etiquette
-
While socializing before or after a meal, keep one hand free at all times for shaking hands and offering hugs. Appetizer plates and/or beverages should be held in the non-dominant hand, while the dominant hand remains free.
-
Respect the Host
-
If the party invitation suggests a specific theme, gift idea or dress code, respect the request whenever possible. Similarly, respect requests by the party host, such as removing wet shoes or avoiding certain rooms. Throughout the party, show respect by disposing of your trash properly, quickly reporting any spills and thanking the party host for his hospitality.
Hostess Gift Ideas
-
A hostess gift does not need to be large or extravagant. Instead, a simple and sweet gift shows gratitude and appreciation. Hostess gift ideas include a bouquet of fresh flowers, homemade desserts, a gift certificate to a local restaurant or a bottle of wine.
