Haunted Tree Face Decorations

An ordinary tree can become home to a "haunted" face.

Halloween is one of the few times of the year when kids and adults alike are encouraged to dress up and be silly. One eye-catching way to decorate for Halloween is by creating a face on a "haunted" tree. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Face Ideas

    • Bicycle reflectors make great eyes, as will the flashing red lights available at Halloween supply stores. You can use the plastic nose from a toy skeleton or skip the nose altogether and concentrate instead upon creating a truly hideous mouth using painted cardboard. Or, you can use a weatherproof material like foam as simple eyes and a mouth, suggests Craftzine.com.

    Lighting

    • There are few things eerier at Halloween than up-lighting. Use a simple floodlight at the base of your tree. Tilt it up toward the branches to create a spooky cast over the top portion of the tree. Add a couple of headstones at the base of the tree and look is complete.

    Extras

    • Enhance the haunted tree face experience by hiding a tape recorder near the tree and playing eerie music or terrifying howls. Hang creepy cotton "cobwebs" from the branches, slightly hiding the ghost's face.
