This indicates that the party host wants the guests to let him know whether they plan to attend the event.

Procedure

Respond to the invitation in a timely manner. Often a host states a deadline date on the invitation. Promptly notify you host, especially if you cannot attend the event. Respond to formal invitations by handwritten note or a response card, if included. Less formal invitations allow guests to notify the host via phone call or email.

Considerations

The host specifies on the invitation the people invited to the event, and it is improper to add guests on your own.
