Light Flash Transition in After Effects
Adobe After Effects comes with only a few transitions that simulate light. These effects should be sufficient to build any transition you desire, especially when combined with other effects or transform properties, such as opacity.
-
CC Light Wipe
-
This transition will make your object appear as if it is being transported to and from the stage as rays of light. The shape, duration, angle and color of the light rays can be adjusted. To apply this effect, click the "CC Light Wipe" effect in the "Transition" folder of the effects window.
CC Light Burst
-
The light burst effect will warp your object and shine a ray-filled glow through it. You can adjust the color, shape, duration, angle, and brightness of the shine. To apply this effect, click the "CC Light Burst" effect in the "Generate" folder of the effects window. Increasing the "ray length" property will increase the shine. To create an actual transition, you'll need to adjust the object's opacity to 100 percent when it is on the stage and to 0 percent when it is off the stage.
-
CC Light Sweep
-
The light sweep effects will be a wave of gleam over your object, similar to a sword. You can adjust the duration, color, angle, brightness and size of the gleam. This is a useful tool to make text appear shiny or metallic. To apply this effect, click the "CC Light Sweep" effect in the "Generate" folder of the effects window. To create an actual transition, you'll need to adjust the object's opacity to 100 percent when it is on the stage and to 0 percent when it is off the stage.
Lens Flare
-
For added effect for any of the effects above, add a lens flare by clicking the "Lens Flare" effect in the "Generate" folder in the effects window. This will simulate light refracting off of a physical camera's lens. The temporary brightness it creates can create a smoother transition.
