Sunscreens containing oil are not recommended while on the HCG diet.

The HCG weight-loss diet includes taking HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, along with eating a low-calorie and low-fat diet. Dietary fat is strictly limited, and so is using face and body creams containing fats and oils, which may be absorbed through the skin, adding to the body's fat reserves.

  1. Oil-Free Sunscreens

    • Oil-free sunscreens that are suitable for the HCG diet include Clarins Oil Free Sun Care Spray SPF 15 and Coppertone Oil-Free Sunscreen Lotion. Both are lightweight and nongreasy, and using either one will not interfere with the program's goals.

    Higher SPF

    • Ocean Potion Sport Xtreme Sun Block Water and Sweat along with Sport Xtreme Sun Block offer higher levels of protection---30 SPF---and are both waterproof.

    Approved

    • Thomas Roth Ultra Lite Oil-Free sun products offer a nongreasy lotion with an SPF of 30. Zia Sunscreen SPF 15 is also approved for use on the HCG diet plan along with Aveeno's oil-free sunscreen.
