Facts on Fragrance & Sensuality

Facts on Fragrance & Sensuality thumbnail
A sexy perfume enhances sensuality.

Fragrance is scientifically proven to enhance human sensuality through positive association and even a physical response. Sensuality can be achieved by associating a particular scent with a sensual experience, or through a more innate, physical reaction to the scent. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Physical Reaction

    • Many scents have been scientifically demonstrated to enhance sensuality by increasing blood flow to the genitals. For example, cinnamon increases the blood flow to the male genitals, boosting erections; the same has been demonstrated to be true of pumpkin pie, licorice, doughnuts, lavender, oriental spice and cola fragrances.

    Gender Specific Reactions

    • The female libido has been scientifically demonstrated to respond sensually to the fragrances of cucumbers and licorice, while men are aroused by lavender and vanilla.

    Fragrances and Pheromones

    • Every person has their own unique fragrance which gives off pheromones. These can only be detected within a distance of about 18 inches, so proximity increases the sensual effect of the fragrance. Also, sexual activity tends to raise body heat, which increases the potency of male pheromones. Ovulating women are more attracted to male pheromones.
