Both the Canon 5D Mark II and Nikon D700 have interchangeable lenses.

The Canon 5D Mark II and Nikon D700 are both digital single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras designed for use by amateur and professional photographers. While the cameras have a great deal in common, there are a few features that set the two apart.

  1. Megapixels

    • The Canon 5D Mark II takes pictures at a 21.1-megapixel resolution. The Nikon D700 takes pictures at a considerably smaller 12.1-megapixel resolution.

    LCD Screen

    • Both the Canon 5D Mark II and the Nikon D700 have 3-inch LCD screens on the back of the camera for viewing pictures. Both cameras also have a built-in Live View mode, allowing photographers to preview a photo on the screen before taking it.

    Continuous Shooting

    • The Canon 5D Mark II is capable of taking pictures at a rate of 3.9 frames per second. The Nikon D700 can capture photos faster, at 5 frames per second.

    Movie Mode

    • The Canon 5D Mark II is capable of shooting high-definition video at a 1920 by 1080 resolution. The Nikon D700 is not capable of recording video.
