    Dosage

    • People taking powdered dandelion root in capsule form should not exceed 1,500 milligrams per day, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. For dandelion root tea preparation, the University of Maryland Medical Center recommends using up to 2 teaspoons of dried root decoction per cup, and a maximum consumption of three cups per day.

    Warning

    • Consumers who have gallbladder problems should not use any part of the dandelion plant, according to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. People using antacids or lithium should consult their doctor before using dandelion root because of possible drug interactions, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.
