How to Buy Low-Cost Las Vegas Homes as Fixer-Uppers
Finding a low-cost, fixer-upper home in Las Vegas requires looking at real estate listings for foreclosures and trustee sales of distressed homes. Buy these types of properties in Las Vegas through different types of Clark County auctions.
-
Foreclosures
-
After foreclosed properties in Clark County receive a Notice of Sale, the county auctions them at a Trustee Sale. The sale takes place at Nevada Legal News. According to "Trustee Sales and the Foreclosure Process," the county will list properties expected to come up for sale and what the starting bid will be. The potential buyer must inspect and verify all information about the property, including outstanding liens and debts, before bidding.
Clark County Trustee Auction
-
Find fixer-upper homes at the Clark County Trustee Auction (for properties with unpaid taxes) that takes place once per year. The auction, previously held in April 2009 and May 2010 at the Clark County Government Center, requires bidders to register before bidding begins. As of 2010, potential bidders paid a registration fee of $1,000 payable by cash, money order, or cashier's check to the Treasurer's Office. According to the Clark County Treasurer, minimum bids for properties auctioned include, but are not limited to, taxes, penalties, interest and costs legally chargeable against the property and do not include all governmental liens.
