Piketon in Pike County, Ohio, celebrates a festival of trees annually with the Dogwood Festival during the last full weekend of April. The festival coincides with the blooming of local dogwood trees, brightening the Ohio springtime with white and pink blossoms.

  1. Attractions

    • The festival exhibits old-timey arts and crafts, bikes, antique cars and chain-saw craftsmanship, as well as a band concert. Musicians battle in fiddle and banjo contests. There is a pie-eating contest, and a variety of foods are sold.

    Bike Ride

    • Pike County hosts a 50-mile bike ride as part of the Dogwood Festival. The ride begins as Piketon High School at 8 a.m., as of summer 2010, with a fee of $8. Entry forms are available beforehand or on the day of the tour.

    Parade

    • The Dogwood Festival Parade features floats, marching bands and other performers on the streets of downtown Knoxville. The parade is a favored event of the festival, which turned 50 years in spring 2010.
