How to Compare Cable TV Providers

TV has come along way, and we now have many more options than were available in the '70s and even the '80s. First there were basic stations that you received with an antenna, then came basic cable channels and finally premium cable channels.

  1. Types

    • Most cable providers provide their programming through a cable network, but some also deliver services via satellite. A downside to satellite is that service can be interrupted during bad weather.

    Considerations

    • Cable providers have different tiers of service to accommodate most budgets. Check out each provider's tier options. You may be able to get all of the channels you want from one company by purchasing a cheap tier, but another provider may have some of those stations on a higher-priced tier.

    Features

    • Some providers offer HD on every channel, and some offer a standard channel and an HD channel for select stations. However, what is on the channel must also be broadcast in HD, or it will still come up in standard definition.
