Mini Notebook Computer Comparison
Miniature laptops, often referred to as netbooks, are designed for portability. While their technical specifications aren't nearly as strong as those of a full-sized notebook or desktop PC, netbooks provide easy computer access for those on the move.
-
Purpose
-
Much like other types of computers, many netbooks are designed to meet a specific purpose. For example, some models are better suited for business users while other netbooks are designed to take advantage of multimedia.
Important Features
-
When making your comparison, three of the most important factors are hard drive size, Internet connectivity and amount of RAM. Get a netbook with a hard drive that you think will be big enough to store all of your data and make sure the RAM is equal or greater than RAM installed in similarly priced netbooks. Preferably, you want something with 801.11n Internet connectivity, the fastest available as of September, 2010.
-
Pricing
-
Due to their smaller package and technical limitations, netbooks are often much cheaper than full-sized notebooks. As of September, 2010, you can find them for as cheap as $200.
Research
-
When buying any new computer, it's important to research current models to know what's available at what prices. Research directly before you buy, not a month in advance. Technology changes rapidly and what was top-of-the-line last month may have already been replaced by something better or cheaper.
