What Is A6 Paper?

Size standards in paper production ensure quality and consistency.

Paper by the sheet can come in many sizes. Standards ensure you get the same exact size every time. Those standards identify paper sizes by an alphanumeric code.

  1. Standards

    • The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) maintains paper size standards. Standard ISO 216 specifies sizes for most common commercial and administrative sheet paper production. Size specifications in ISO 216 fall into two subsets: A and B. While nobody is required to follow ISO 216, this standard is recognized globally.

    "A" Series Paper

    • Papersizes.org explains how all A series paper sizes follow the same ratio of 1.4142 to 1. The length of all A series paper sizes equals 1.4142 times the width. Starting with the paper size A0 (zero), this perfect ratio makes every subsequent size equal to one half the previous size. An A0 sheet of paper equals one square meter.

    A6 Paper Size

    • A6 is a relatively small paper size. The A6 dimensions are 4.13 by 5.83 inches (105 x 148 mm). Some smaller products, such as postcards, notepads and toilet paper sheets follow the A6 standard.
