From boutiques and specialty shops to department stores and super-sized malls, Germany is the place to shop. Traditional town centers and pedestrian friendly walkways scattered with cafes offer a quaint setting for clothing shopping. A department store or mall is a fast-paced option.

  1. German Shopping Centers

      City centers are scattered throughout Germany, each with their own shopping districts. Independently owned stores offer unique clothing designs. Department stores sell clothing, housewares and often have floors with German toys and Christmas items. One of the largest shopping malls in Europe, the CentrO, is located in Oberhausen and has more than 200 high-fashion shops.

    Outlet Shopping

    • The town of Metzingen, 19 miles south of Stuttgart, is one of Germany's famous factory outlet centers. The Hugo Boss headquarters began there. If you visit the Boss outlet drop the kids at the on-site kids camp while you shop. Adidas and Puma are also native to Germany. Their factory outlet stores are in Herzogenaurach in Bavaria.

    Size Charts

    • Sizes are different in Europe than in the U.S.. Shop with a clothing and shoes size conversion chart, found at Docstoc.com. Sizes, even converted, fit differently on clothing designed for European markets. Leave enough time to try on.
