How to Compare Wide Screen TVs

Widescreen TVs are making old-fashioned CRT TVs obsolete. You can still find a CRT TV at some of your local retailers, but it is not as easy as it used to be. When you do find CRTs for sell, the selection is often slim.

  1. Types

    • Decide what type of widescreen TV you want. There are three types available: LCD TVs, LED TVs and plasma TVs. The type that you choose will affect your overall cost.

    Size

    • Widescreen TVs range in size from 7 inches to over 70 inches. While LCD TVs and LED TVs come in a variety of sizes, plasma TVs only come as small as 40 inches.

    Features

    • Decide whether you want a wide screen TV that is 720p (720 lines of vertical resolution) or 1080p (1,080 lines of vertical resolution). 1080p will give you a better picture quality, but 720p will usually save you some money.
