Phototherapy has been used to treat hair loss for more than two decades. Traditionally used in a clinical setting, phototherapy laser systems are now available for use at home. The two most prominent brands are the Dermeray Laser Comb and the HairMax Laser Comb. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Effects

    • These products use lasers to stimulate hair follicles thereby encouraging new hair growth. No serious adverse effects have been reported.

    Dermeray

    • The Dermeray Laser Comb, according to the company website, is designed for pattern or general hair loss. Dermeray has also proved useful in the treatment of psoriasis, physiotherapy applications and pain management.

    HairMax

    • An article in Natural News, published in 2007, states that the HairMax Laser Comb is FDA approved for the treatment of hair loss at home. The article goes on to mention a Lexington study, which concluded that the device increased the number of thick hairs in 93 percent of users.
