The Best Way to Paint a Honda Metropolitan Scooter

Painting a scooter is easy and can be fun.

Buzzing around town on a Honda scooter is often an enjoyable experience. However, if you do not like the color of your scooter, your joy has not reached its potential. To get the most out of a scooter, custom paint it.

Disassemble

Disassemble the Honda Metropolitan scooter completely. Ensure that all parts remain safe or reassembly cannot take place. Place all loose screws and bolts in plastic bags or containers. Lay painted pieces on the ground to prepare for sanding.

Sand

Sand the painted area. If you own a newer scooter, use 1,000-grit sandpaper. For older scooters, sand with 600-grit sandpaper.

Wash

Before painting, wash all the sanded areas thoroughly. This ensures that no residue is left on the sanded area of the scooters before painting. If residue remains, the painting process will become hindered.

Paint

Paint the sanded areas of the scooter. Use Krylon spray primer and paint. Apply three coats of primer and four coats of the colored paint. Allow the paint to dry before reassembling the scooter. After it has dried, put the scooter back together and enjoy the freshly painted Honda Metropolitan scooter.
