    • Men working in a conservative environment should wear a solid or pinstriped, dark colored suit. A solid, long sleeve dress shirt and simple tie complete the look. Socks should match the outfit, and belt and shoes should match each other. A more casual look is acceptable in some workplaces. For instance, a button-up shirt paired with khaki pants is acceptable in a business casual office.

    Women

    • Suits with skirts or pants are the most professional look for women, although dresses or brightly colored blouses with pants or skirts are fine in less conservative workplaces. Clothing that shows a lot of skin, such as shirts with spaghetti straps, should be avoided. Low-heeled pumps are the best shoes to wear.

    • Avoid flashy patterns or revealing clothing, even in a casual business environment. These things draw attention away from your personality and work and are distracting to others in the workplace. Accessories should be kept simple and should be reflective of your personality.
