How to Compare Ultra-Light Notebook Computers by Weight
Ultra-light notebooks, also referred to as netbooks, are ideal for those who regularly take their laptop on the go. Choosing the right ultra-mini notebook for your particular needs, however, can be a struggle due to the wide array of options.

Significance
-
Choose the weight you prefer. All ultra-mini notebooks are light and portable, but some weigh a little less than others. Although the difference between a two-and-a-half-pound notebook and a five-pound notebook may be unnoticeable to some, it is a factor to consider when comparing similar notebooks.
Features
-
The more parts you have in your notebook, the heavier it will be. Therefore, you may have to forgo some features to get the lightest notebooks. You may have to have a single core processor rather than a dual core; you may need to settle for one gigabyte of memory rather than multiple gigabytes and you may even have to give up a CD-ROM drive.

Considerations
-
A larger cell battery will have more life than a smaller cell battery, but it may mean a heavier notebook. For example, a six-cell battery will have a longer life than a three-cell battery, but it may make your notebook a little heavier. To get an ultra-light notebook, you may have to choose the three-cell battery.
