Doc to XML Conversion

DOC, the computer format that originates in Microsoft Word, is commonly composed of text, shapes, and images. In some cases, you may have to convert this simple format to XML, which is commonly used by web designers and programmers.

  1. Identification

    • The XML format allows a user to transport information to other applications, including software programs and websites. For example, some web-based blog designing tools require you to upload an XML file to establish the template of the blog.

    Benefits

    • The main benefit of transferring your DOC file to XML format is portability and information sharing. You can save every element that makes up the DOC file in the XML file then use it in many other programs besides a standard word processor and share it with other computer professionals who may not like to work with DOC files.

    Solution

    • If you have a later version of Microsoft Word (2003 or later), simply open the DOC file in this program to do the conversion. Click "Save As" on the Office menu then scroll down the "Save as type" drop-down box to find ".xml" format. Click "Enter" to save the DOC file as an XML file. You also can download and use a DOC to XML converter utility instead.
