What Does the Amber Light Mean on My Acer TravelMate Laptop?

Acer TravelMate laptop computers generally have at least three lighted indicators next to the screen at the top or bottom of the keyboard, visible when the screen is closed.

Types

The amber light may be associated with a number of features. Look at the icon next to the amber light. Common symbols associated with amber lights are batteries, light bulbs, satellite dishes and the Bluetooth icon (a letter B made of straight lines).

Significance

The most common amber light on TravelMate notebook computers occurs next to the battery symbol and indicates the battery is charging. On some models of TravelMate, an amber light next to the light bulb icon shows that the computer is in hibernation or standby mode. An amber lights next to the Bluetooth or satellite icon indicates a lack of Bluetooth or wireless network connection, respectively.

Considerations

Not all TravelMate laptops have the same sets of indicators, nor do all indicators have amber color settings. Many lights have just two settings: green and off.
