What Is Adobe ImageReady 7.0?
Adobe ImageReady 7.0, an image-processing program focused on optimizing graphics for websites, shipped with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 when the software was released in 2002. While Adobe originally designed Photoshop for print-based products, the company designed ImageReady for web projects, according to an instructional manual from Bloomsburg University. Nevertheless, ImageReady doesn't have some of Photoshop's more advanced features.

History
-
Adobe released ImageReady as a standalone application in 1998, shipping it with Photoshop 5.5. The company continued to include ImageReady with Photoshop installations until 2007, when Adobe released its Creative Suite 3 software, which integrated many of ImageReady's features into Photoshop. Adobe now uses Fireworks as its primary online image processing program.
Integration with Photoshop
-
Adobe designed ImageReady 7.0 and Photoshop 7.0 to work hand in hand for creating and optimizing graphics. You can do basic image editing in Photoshop, then switch to ImageReady---via keyboard shortcut, a button in the workspace or a menu option---to create animations or rollover images. If you need to, you can easily switch back to Photoshop.

Features
-
Adobe ImageReady 7.0 allows you to create rollover images, data-driven graphics, animations and image maps, among other things. The program also offers a feature called "weighted optimization," which keeps text and vector art crisp by compressing other areas of the image when it's saved.
