Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, known as Mormons, are required to purchase and wear certain garments. Some of these garments are required for daily wear, while others are worn only during worship inside the temple.

  1. Prerequisites for Purchasing Temple Garments

    • A person must be an endowed member of the church before he or she is permitted to purchase garments; that is, he or she must have been received as a full member of the church through a temple ceremony. According to LDSEndowment.org, a "temple recommend," a document that certifies the purchaser as a participating member of a temple, is required before the purchase of temple clothing is permitted. The temple recommend is not needed for the purchase of temple garments--the undergarments required by the Mormon faith--since people who are not able to participate in temple worship due to disciplinary action are expected to continue wearing the garment.

    On-Site Temple Garment Purchases

    • Temple garments are made and sold by Beehive Clothing Distribution, an LDS-owned store located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Beehive Clothing has many local distribution points all over the world. Beehive Clothing does not have a website; however, the store can be reached at 800-521-1203.

    Online Temple Garment Purchases

    • White temple clothing--dresses, pants, slippers and other items--can be purchased online from many different sources. Temple garments are only available online through the LDS website at www.ldscatalog.com. This page will ask the temple-endowed member for his or her birth and confirmation dates, full name, and church membership number before allowing the purchaser to continue. According to this site, temple-endowed members can authorize purchases for new members.
