Microsoft PowerPoint

Part of the Microsoft Office software suite, PowerPoint has been the slideshow software of choice for the last decade. PowerPoint allows you to create dynamic presentations with images and videos, the ability to create corresponding print-outs, and---in the 2010 edition---even modify your images.

OpenOffice Impress

The open-source equivalent of PowerPoint, OpenOffice Impress has many of the same features as PowerPoint; in addition to the fully functional slideshow creation capability, it also supports the OpenDocument file format, a format designed to make your slideshows available in any OpenDocument capable program, not just Impress.

Slideroll Slideshows

Slideroll is a website designed to create slideshows directly in your browser. Basic membership is free, though limited in the amount of pictures you can upload and the number of slideshows you can create; the program enables you to use your photos in slideshows either by uploading them to the website or by syncing it with your Flickr account, if applicable. You can add music and even create transitions between your slides.
