What Is Adobe Reader Synchronizer?

Bundled with Acrobat 8 and Acrobat Reader 8, the Adobe Synchronizer is an additional program that makes temporary copies of data and stores them on your computer.

  1. Identification

    • Designed to enable users to view applications after being disconnected from a network, the Synchronizer makes a client-side copy of data that can be reviewed in the event of network-access failure.

    Warnings

    • The main issue with the Synchronizer is that it runs automatically. It starts momentarily upon loading Windows, again when you run Acrobat or Acrobat Reader and also when reviewing preferences or using the Tracker in Adobe. Since any running program utilizes system resources, self-starting programs can delay load time and slow down system performance.

    Benefits

    • The primary benefit to Adobe Synchronizer is the opportunity for increased productivity. In the event of network disconnection or access failure, the data will still be accessible client-side, enabling the user to continue working.
