Modern schools require up-to-date technology for teaching purposes, for record-keeping, and for communications. Several different job titles are used by different school districts for the employees who keep all this technology running.

A technology technician assists with technology-related maintenance, operations and record-keeping. He installs software and implements network changes, as well as troubleshooting computer, network and peripheral problems. She provides assistance regarding email and applications, as well as other help desk topics. He maintains hardware inventory, and generally works under some form of IT manager.
Technology Coordinator

A technology coordinator creates learning resources and an overall technology implementation plan for a school, and works with classroom teachers to implement such a plan. He handles the technology budget for a school, with an eye to trends in software and curriculum. She purchases hardware and software for the school, and structures the technology education of faculty and students alike.

She plans for the purchase and use of technology within the school, and assesses the effectiveness of such choices. He coordinates the technology aspects of all construction, and he maintains the school or school district's data gathering and processing activities.
