Beeswax in and of itself is not greasy, but the oils it is often combined with can be very greasy. Sunflower oil and light cooking oils are less greasy than avocado oil. If the lotion is too greasy, add more cocoa butter and reduce the amount of oil.

Basic Beeswax Lotion Recipe

1 to 2 tbsps. beeswax 1/4 cup cocoa butter 1/4 cup light cooking oil 1/8 tsp. baking soda 1/4 cup distilled water

Grate or break the beeswax into small pieces. Combine it with the cocoa butter in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals until the mixture has melted. In a separate bowl, add the water and the baking soda. Heat to boiling. Whisk the water mixture slowly into the wax. It will thicken as it cools. Add any desired essential oils.

2 tbsps. beeswax 2 tsps. distilled water 4 oz. cocoa butter 4 tbsps. sweet almond oils 2 tbsps.coconut oil

Melt the beeswax over low heat or in the microwave with the water, stirring occasionally. Mix in the cocoa butter and then blend in the oils. It will thicken as it cools.

3/4 cup almond oil 1/3 cup cocoa butter 1 tsp. lanolin 1/2 oz. grated beeswax 2/3 cup rosewater 1/3 cup aloe vera gel 1 to 2 drops rose oil 1 vitamin E capsule

Combine the almond oil, coconut oil, lanolin and beeswax over low heat. After it has cooled, add rosewater, aloe vera, rose oil and the contents of the vitamin E capsule. Mix well.
