About Private Investigating Online Training and Certification
Not every state requires a certification for working as a private investigator, but some states are strict with regulations, requiring a minimum number of hours worked before a license or certificate can be awarded.

Private Investigating Online Training
-
Several websites offer private investigator training, which typically includes research and background search methods, an understanding of the law and jurisdiction, and various investigation techniques. Not all schools offer accredited training, however, so if this is something required by the state the future private investigator will be working in, he should take accreditation into consideration.
Private Investigating Online Certification
-
The majority of private investigation online training programs do not offer a usable certificate, but some offer a certificate of completion, and those that are accredited usually feature a diploma. Certification is not necessarily the same as licensing, however, and the state the private investigator plans to work in may require licensing or may not have any minimum requirements.

Online Degree Programs
-
Some online universities feature associate's degrees in criminal investigations, which may be beneficial to those wishing to pursue a private investigating career. Other online programs from accredited colleges include private investigator diploma, criminal investigation certificate or a computer forensic investigations certificate.
