There are many types of green quartz.

Green quartz is a vague description for a gemstone. Quartz is a stone with many different types, shapes and colors. There are a few quartz stones that are green in color and they are found in many parts of the world.

  1. Prasiolite

    • Prasiolite is natural green quartz. It is very rare to find in nature. It is most often mined in Brazil, but can also be found in Poland, Tanzania, Zambia and Thundar Bay in Canada.

    Green Amethyst

    • Green amethyst, also known as vermarine, is an artificial form of the natural Prasiolite. When amethyst is heated up it will sometimes turn green if it has the right type of iron within. Amethyst is often mined in the United States, Madagascar, India, Mexico, Burma, Namibia, Russia and Sri Lanka.

    Green Aventurine

    • Aventurine is a type of quartz that is green in color, although sometimes found in other shades. It often has a glittery appearance. Aventurine is mined in India, China, Brazil and Norway.

    Chrysoprase

    • Chrysoprase is another type of quartz. It is green in color because of the nickel found within. Chrysoprase is naturally found in Zimbabwe, Tanzania, California and Australia.
