A Universal Serial Bus (USB) MicroSD Card Reader allows users to move data between computers and small devices such as mobile phones and cameras. USB MicroSD card readers can be standalone products or integrated into multi-card reading devices.

  1. MicroSD Cards

    • MicroSD cards are removable flash memory storage cards no larger than the size of a small coin. They were invented by SanDisk. They come in a variety of capacities, with some capable of holding up to 2 GB of data.

    MicroSD Devices

    • Small electronic equipment such as smart phones, cameras, GPS devices, portable media players and hand-held gaming systems such as Nintendo DS use microSD cards to hold data and provide extra storage.

    Types of USB MicroSD Readers

    • MicroSD readers allow users to fit a card into a USB slot on a computer in order to read or transfer data. Some readers fit right into the USB slot of computers and have enough space for one card. Other readers are SD adapters where a microSD card fits into a slot on a modified SD card that can be inserted into internal or external card readers. Multi-card readers have several slots for different types of flash memory cards, including a space for a microSD.
