There are about two dozen different free applications that expand the use of your QuickBooks software to include performing functions outside the normal day-to-day operations of QuickBooks accounting procedures. The Web Connector is one of those.
-
Function
-
QuickBooks Web Connector is a free software application that facilitates the communication between your QuickBooks software and other applications that integrate with QuickBooks. These applications include third-party software for e-commerce, industry-specific needs and more.
History
-
QuickBooks Web Connector has existed since 2002, when QuickBooks started having more and more third-party software companies cooperate with making software that was more QuickBooks compatible. In early 2002, more and more smaller businesses were making their presence known on the Internet and needed a way to be able to conduct business online. The Web Connector allowed orders placed online to be downloaded and automatically entered into the QuickBooks company files.

Installation
-
Depending on which of the third-party software you choose to use, the installation may take hours. QuickBooks information relevant to that particular third-party software package is automatically entered into the third-party software. This information includes the items, customers, vendors, price lists and more.
