Founded in 2002, Sunset Hydroponics & Home Brewing is "designed for the home hobbyist," according to the Syracuse location's store manager. "It's all about doing it yourself," he said in a telephone interview. The stores sell not just hydroponic gardening supplies, but a full line of organic lawn and garden products. The store manager said Sunset also carries wine- and beer-making supplies, cheese-making kits, hot sauces and spicy condiments.

Sunset Hydroponics & Home Brewing stores are open 7 days a week. The Syracuse store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. The Victor store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. The Rochester store is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
