A legal positioning statement is used to state how a company distinguishes itself from others. It explains in detail what sets the company apart from all the rest and outlines the company's strategy. To determine this, a company must find out exactly what it is they are trying to communicate to their audience and find the uniqueness in it.

A legal positioning statement also states the ways in which the customers of the business will benefit. If it is in a service industry, an example could be that customers will benefit because the business promises to provide its service within 24 hours.
