How to Compare Walk-in Bathtubs
You can compare walk-in bath tubs by examining material construction, the price range of various brands with the same features you've specified, the method of sale to the public and whether they're certified for quality. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Material
-
You should know what material was used to construct your walk-in bath tub. Walk-in bathtubs are usually constructed from only two types of material--fiberglass or acrylic--although most baths, about 90 percent, are made of fiberglass, which is less expensive than acrylic.
Features and Pricing
-
Walk-in bathtub pricing is based on the type of features installed, such as jetting systems, faucet set, tub size, composition of materials, country of origin, color and any special features. Bath prices will also vary according to how they are sold. As of August 2010, prices ranged from $1,000 to $20,000. Walk In Bathtub Reviews advises that "Historically, in-home presentations are the most expensive and buying direct on the Internet is the least."
-
Quality
-
Approval ratings confirm a bath tub's construction quality. A well-built walk-in bathtub will have approval ratings from three sources, Underwriting Laboratories, or UL,, International Association for Plumbing and Mechanical Organization, or IAPMO, and the Electronics Testing Laboratory, or ETL, from Intertek. You should also review the manufacturer's record with the Better Business Bureau to check for any customer complaints.
