Viewpoint Media is a browser plug-in software, typically offered through Viewpoint Media Player, which allows users to view and display rich media content on the Internet. The Viewpoint Media Player is often included with AOL products such as AOL Instant Messenger.

Viewpoint Media applications are similar to other media players such as Quicktime, Flash and RealPlayer. The Viewpoint Media player can be used for AIM themes, Macromedia Flash animations, AOL instant greetings and other media.

The Viewpoint Media program may automatically install itself via other programs such as AOL, Netscape and some Adobe software programs. If Viewpoint Media software is removed while another program that uses it is installed, Viewpoint Media may reinstall itself without notifying the user. If an installed Viewpoint Media player is allowed to update, it may attempt to upload a Viewpoint Toolbar in the user's Internet browser, regardless of the toolbar the user previously installed.
