Ionic Hair Dryer Description
-
Ionic hair dryers produce negatively charged ions, causing the cuticle of the hair to remain flat and eliminate frizz. Vidal Sassoon's Ionic Sensor Touch 1875W, about $30, turns on when you pick it up and off when put down. It has eight speeds and heat combinations. A more expensive ionic dryer is Solano Top Power Ion for about $150. It has five temperature settings and emits about 2,100,000 ions per cubed centimeter each minute.
Ceramic Hair Dryer Description
-
Ceramic hair dryers are self-regulating and turn the heat down when needed. Some recommendations are the Chi Turbo Drive for about $200. It has a low electromagnetic field and only 1500 watts, but claims to dry just as well as those with 1800 watts. The Conair Ceramic Smooth is only $30 and has both a regular heater and ceramic heater.

Tourmaline Hair Dryer Description
-
This type of dryer is said to speed-up drying time by boosting ionic power. Popular tourmaline dryers are the T3 Tourmaline Hairdryer, Babyliss Pro 5000 and Infiniti by Conair, Tourmaline Ionic Styler. T3 Tourmaline's description says that it uses infrared heat to dry the cuticle from the inside out to reduce frying the hair. Babyliss has six speed/heat settings and a cool shot. Conair's Tourmaline dryer also uses infrared heat along with tourmaline and ceramic technology to speed drying time.
