Research Analyst Training
Research analyst training involves undergraduate or graduate level study of management science or operations research. The discipline of management science uses mathematical and scientific techniques to get the most organizational profit with the least amount of risk. Research analysts may have the title operations research analysts.

Types

Research operations analysts may have either a Bachelor or Master of Management Science. A bachelor's degree generally requires four years of full-time study. Degree areas of concentration may include information technology, finance, operations research and marketing science. A master's usually takes one to two years to complete. Depending on the program, students may be able to choose an area of concentration such as geographic information system, health care, manufacturing and operations management and statistics.

Undergraduate management science courses include calculus, data analysis, financial accounting, financial theory, macroeconomics, management psychology, optimization methods for management science, microeconomics and statistical thinking. Graduate-level courses may include analysis and design of information systems, business methods in management science, computational programming, experimental design, mathematical statistics, mathematical programming, statistical inference theory and transportation geography.

Students with a master's degree may pursue doctoral training in the field of management science. A Ph.D. in Management Science equips graduates to work as senior research analysts or as college or university professors.
