Appropriate dress is one component of a professional image.

Professionalism is a combination of personality traits, workplace etiquette and appropriate attitudes and attributes that help someone in a professional position stand out as an expert in his field.

Integrity

Professionalism is grounded in honesty and ethics. Ethics starts with basic trustworthiness, but also includes a value system that is generally in line with accepted workplace codes and industry-specific integrity standards.

Image

First impressions are formed in a matter of seconds. A professional image is what others see in you and it begins with industry-appropriate professional dress. It also includes proper grooming, hygiene, self-care, and adherence to company behavioral norms and policies.

Attitude

Professionalism includes mature professional attitudes. Courtesy and friendliness, respect for others, goal orientation, a desire for excellence, responsibility and accountability are core characteristics that help make up a professional attitude.
