How to Buy Cheap PC Laptop Office Software
Several methods exist for buying office software for your PC or laptop at a low cost. Microsoft offers cheap versions of its Microsoft Office suite for certain types of users, and you can find other low-cost or free alternatives.
-
Microsoft Options
-
PC and laptop users commonly use office productivity software. Though widely used, commercial commercial versions of the Microsoft Office suite are expensive. Microsoft offers cheaper versions such as its "Home and Student" version of Microsoft Office 2010, which allows you to install the software on up to three personal PCs or laptops; see the link in the References section. Microsoft also offers academic editions of the software, available exclusively to students and those working in educational institutions.
Restrictions
-
The cheaper versions of the Microsoft software are only intended for noncommercial use, so businesses cannot use them as a cheap way of buying the software. If you purchase academic editions, you are required to prove your eligibility as a student or teacher.

Alternatives
-
Alternatives to Microsoft Office are available at low prices or completely free of charge. Some, such as OpenOffice, offer compatibility with data files from Office. For users of Apple Macintosh computers, Apple offers the iWork package as a cheaper alternative, compatible with Microsoft Office files.
