What Is Difference Betwee Intel T6400 & T3400 Processors?

Both the Core 2 Duo T6400 and Pentium Processor T3400 are dual-core mobile processors.

The Core 2 Duo T6400 and Pentium Processor T3400 were built as mobile processors, and both had two processing cores. The T3400 uses the Pentium name and was manufactured in late 2008. The T6400 was released in 2009.

Processing Similarities

Both of these mobile processors support 64-bit computing and contain two cores and two threads. With 64-bit computing, computers can take advantage of more than 4 GB of ram. Both of these mobile processors used the same socket on motherboards (PPGA478).

Processing Differences

Aside from a naming change, the T6400 has a faster FSB (front-side bus). Its FSB is 800 MHz verses the T3400's 667 MHz FSB. The front-side bus speed is important, because it determines how much bandwidth is available to send data around the computer. The T6400 is a better processor than the T3400.

Understanding Dual-Core Processing

Dual-core processing is the next step up from single-core processing. Each processor core is able to work in sync with other cores to process data, which leads to a performance boost. Both Intel and AMD make processors with multiple cores for the mobile and desktop computers.
