Memories from the beach return when you light your candles. A candle garden consists of a shallow decorative dish or plate, filled with colored or natural sand. Two to five seashells are arranged around one to three candles of different height, which have been placed in the sand.

Sand and seashells stand out in clear gel candles. Gel candles are made from clear gel wax that is poured around decorative items, such as shells, situated within a clear glass container. Under-the-sea, summer and Hawaii-themed gel candles with sand and seashells sometimes also contain fragrance and coloring.

Sand, seashells and rocks can be used to enhance your favorite vacation picture. A vacation picture can be enhanced when finds from the beach, such as shells and sand, are attached to a plain picture frame. Polyurethane spray applied to a homemade beach frame can give the design greater durability.
