MS Access Certification
The Microsoft Access certification exam, also known as the Microsoft Office Specialist exam, was developed to measure the proficiency of end users. This certification is often used to enhance resumes and to develop expertise with relational databases.
-
Skills Measured
-
The certification exam measures skills that an end user would acquire after 6 to 12 months of using the application. The skills tested are from six major topic areas, including: creating and formatting database elements, structuring a database, entering and modifying data, creating and modifying queries, managing and maintaining databases and presenting and sharing data.
Preparation
-
Training resources for the exam include online and print study guides. Microsoft has study guides that are specifically geared toward exam preparation, such as the Microsoft Official Academic Course. This includes a textbook, lab manual and practice software.

The Exam
-
The Microsoft Access certification test, exam number 77-605, is a timed 45-minute exam. Each of the topic areas receives a percentile score, which are then added together for an overall score. The passing score for the exam is 65.
