How to Prevent Frost on a Windshield With Vinegar thumbnail
Scraping frost off your car's windshield on a cold winter morning is not a pleasure.

If you live, or travel, in the northern tier of the United States during the winter months, you're familiar with freezing temperatures and frost on your windshields. Sometimes the frost is thick and difficult to remove.

  1. Removing the Frost

    • Generally, you either scrape the frost off your windshield, which is work, or run your car for 10 or 15 minutes with the defroster on, which is not economical.

A better method involves a product discovered 10,000 years ago, in France, that will help keep frost off your windshield.

    Vinegar

    • To keep frost off your windshield mix three parts of vinegar and one part of water. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Spray it on your car's windshield when you park it outside. No frost should build up on your windshield.

    Caution

    • According to the "Greenists," always dilute the vinegar with water. Straight vinegar may be too acidic, and damage your window seals, or wiper blades.
