How to Learn Corporate English
If English isn't your first language, and you're working in a corporation where English is the primary language spoken, it's important to quickly and accurately learn corporate English. Corporate English learning is different from traditional English language learning because it asks you to focus on the vocabulary and idiomatic expressions you will need to get ahead in the world of corporate business.

Significance
-
English has become Lingua Franca of the business world, whether or not the business is located in an English speaking country. Learning corporate English makes you eligible for more prestigious corporate jobs. A good grasp of corporate English also makes it easier for you to complete your job tasks, as you are better able to communicate with your clients, co-workers and superiors.
Types
-
Corporate English consists of business vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, writing strategies and learning to avoid stigmatizing errors, or errors that make a person look incompetent. One example of a stigmatizing error in the corporate world is the error of subject-verb agreement. When business people hear or see this error, they often think the speaker or writer is unintelligent or incapable.

Methods
-
Learn corporate English through a combination of speaking, writing and listening. Surround yourselves with English speakers in your place of employment, and don't speak your native language with colleagues. Practice doing controlled corporate English exercises out of a workbook or online, and find a friend or colleague with whom you can practice corporate English and ask questions. Take a notebook with you to all meetings, and write down expressions you don't understand so that you can ask your language partner about them later.
