Keep oily skin clean.

If you have oily skin, you're probably always on the lookout for home remedy antiseptics to help alleviate the problem. Sometimes oily skin can be blamed on hormonal changes, particularly during pregnancy, or on changes caused by stress. If your skin doesn't respond to home remedies, or if you notice a sudden change in your skin texture, see your doctor. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Washing Oily Skin

    • The easiest home remedy for oily skin using antiseptics is to wash your face at least twice a day, with detergent or glycerin soap. Regular soaps, such as Ivory or Dial, are drying soaps, or you can buy medicated degreasing soaps. Make sure you wash with hot water to help dissolve the oil. Wipe your skin with acetone and alcohol based antiseptics to remove oil. Even plain rubbing alcohol or witch hazel can work as an effective antiseptic agent.

    Homemade Treatments

    • Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic that can be used on oily skin. Pour a little on a cotton ball and rub over skin to remove excess oil. Try clay or mud masks to absorb oil from your skin. Apply aloe vera to your skin to clear out your pores and absorb oil. You can also make a scrub of oatmeal and aloe vera, leaving it on your face for 15 minutes before washing it off. Mixing lemon juice with cucumber is another homemade antiseptic that kills microbes that can cause acne in oily skin.

Other Things You Can Do for Oily Skin

    • Avoid fried and greasy food, especially animal fats. Drink lots of water to keep your skin hydrated and fresh. Eat healthy foods and get plenty of exercise to flush toxins out of your body. Carry tissues with you to blot excess oil, either regular tissues or special oil-absorbing types.
