How to Turn on AutoPlay for CDs thumbnail
The AutoPlay function allows for simple CD playback.

It is simple to set up the AutoPlay function in both Windows and Ubuntu, allowing for easy music playback. Mac OS X has dropped the AutoPlay feature, so you will not be able to set up AutoPlay on a Mac.

  1. Function

    • AutoPlay works by initiating playback immediately when a compact disc (CD) is inserted. The default media player is usually used for music CDs, unless otherwise specified in the AutoPlay settings.

    AutoPlay in Windows

    • Click on "Start," "Control Panel," "Hardware & Sound" and "AutoPlay." You can either turn on AutoPlay for everything or set it for individual devices by clicking on "Media" and changing the settings. Click "Save" when you complete your changes.

    AutoPlay in Ubuntu

    • Open your Home folder, and click on the "Edit" drop-down menu. Select "Preferences" and "Media." You should see the AutoPlay options for several media types. Select the drop-down menu beside the media options and choose one of the available programs, or "Open With Another Application..." if your preferred program is not available by default.
