Having your home inspected

Georgia does not require home inspectors to be certified, licensed or registered. Even though there are no home inspection laws in Georgia, several organizations offer certification. Home inspectors identify defects in foundations, homes, roofs, and even detect mold.

  1. Georgia Association of Home Inspection

    • The Georgia Association of Home Inspectors provides professional training and development courses for home inspector certification. You train with up-to-date knowledge of residential construction and building codes. Certified members are required to pass the national home inspection exam. Members are required to stay up to date with yearly continuing education classes.

    Professional Home Inspection Institute

    • Professional Home Inspection Institute offers a nationally recognized home inspector certification, including in Georgia. It also offers free continuing education credits. PHII offers online learning and classroom training and teaches how to inspect, building codes, and how to write inspection reports. The course material provides knowledge and hands-on experience in residential inspection, construction, framing, mold and hazards.

    Better School of Building Inspection

    • Better School of Building Inspection offers live online classes and DVD/video training. It offers certification for Georgia and provides hundreds of hours of reading material from residential inspection, new construction, in-the-field training, commercial inspection, and manufactured housing. It is a member of the Better Business Bureau. The course material covers the Georgia state exam.
