Part-time flexible jobs offer varying work schedules.

Part Time Flexible (PTF) is an abbreviated way of describing jobs that are part-time with flexible hours. Part-time flexible employees work in positions with with less than full time hours and flexible schedules.

  1. Part-Time Basics

    • Part time is a job designation that can vary in meaning. Part time employees could work one hour in a week or forty at times. The Business Dictionary definition of part time includes the phrase "Not meeting the requirements or standards of being full-time". Companies may define this standard as 30 or fewer hours, 20 or fewer or the like.

    Flexible Schedule Basics

    • Flexible scheduling can correlate with either a full-time or part-time position. It simply means an employee works irregular hours, as opposed to the typical 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule. Companies that offer regular flex scheduling often have a core time like 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where all employees must be at work for communication and teamwork.

    Benefits of PTF

    • PTF scheduling benefits the employee and employer. An employee can plan work around school, family life or other responsibilities. A company expands its potential talent pool of employees by allowing less restrictive work hours. Some PTF positions are precursors to full-time positions.
