What Is a Tracking Cookie 2O7?
The 2O7 tracking cookie is an information-gathering cookie that's designed to appear as a connection to an IP address. This cookie is installed without the users' knowledge by sites that use Omniture's statistics-gathering technology.
-
Function
-
While many cookies are benign, saving viewing preferences for your favorite websites, the 2O7 tracking cookie provides Omniture with records of your Adobe applications and iTunes Ministore use. Omniture collects and shares this information without users' explicit consent.
Appearance
-
The 2O7's middle character is an upper-case O, not a zero and can lead users to believe that an IP address is being contacted to ensure that unlicensed software isn't being run. While you can opt out of the cookie's information collecting by going to Omniture's web site, it installs another cookie when you opt out.

Removal
-
Firefox Version 3.5.11 users can remove the 2O7 tracking cookie by selecting Tools from the menu bar, clicking on Options from the drop-down menu, then selecting Privacy. Click Show Cookies, select 2O7.net from the list, then click Delete. Internet Explorer 8 users can remove the cookie by clicking Safety from the menu bar and choosing Delete Browsing History from the drop-down menu. Check the box next to Cookies and click Delete to remove the cookie.
